The last two posts in our Web 2.0 @ UR Library category discuss the abundance of Web based applications dedicated to books and publishing. The current generation of the World Wide Web also offers some pretty sweet music streaming sites. Many of these sites allow users to select, organize, and listen to streaming music. Some even incorporate social networking features! Below is a list of a few of my favorite Internet radio sites:
AH.fm – This is for fans of techno and dance club music. Stream music and connect with other users.
AmazingTunes.com – Listen to your favorite artists or choose from a selection of genre stations.
Deezer.com– Listen to music, build your own playlists, share them with friends.
Grooveshark.com– Build your own playlist and save it for future listening. “Smart” application will make new song recommendations based on your song choices.
Magnatune.com – A site featuring only for independent artists. Stream full albums, or buy them by making an offer of at least $5.00.
Pandora.com – Find new music based on your old and current favorites. Create stations around favorite artists or songs or select a genre station. Connect with other users with embedded social network utility. (This is my personal favorite!)
Playlist.com – Create a personalized music playlist, share with friends, and save it for future listening.
Whoditty.com – Search for songs from movies and TV shows using user generated tags. Add your own tags and comments to songs.
