Many thanks to the O’Keefe Brief community for making our inaugural haiku contest a grand success! Our panel of judges faced the intimidating task of having to choose one winner out of a large compilation of excellent poems.
Congratulations to SAU Student Emily Bennett for submitting the winning haiku.
Emily will receive our hearty congratulations and an SAU tee shirt. Wear it proudly, Emily.
Sun peers down amongst
Steel trees to where I daydream,
curled about a book. –Emily Bennett, SAU student
Thanks very much to our judges: Kelsey Buffington, SAU student; Carl Herzig, SAU Professor of English; Mary Heinzman, SAU O’Keefe Library Director.
Entries were judged on the following criteria:
• Relevance to theme
• Observance of Haiku format
Thanks to all who participated. We appreciate your enthusiasm and creativity. Nice work!
