The Burning Time, by Robin Morgan, will be discussed by the
St. Ambrose University book discussion group, SAU-READ, on Sunday, Mar. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the O’Keefe Library on the SAU campus. Participation in the discussion group is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Professor of English Bea Jacobson will serve as facilitator.
“A fantastic page-turner,” says the Historical Novels Review. “ Readers are drawn into this gripping story of the Inquisition and forced conversion of the Irish from the Old Religion to Catholicism. The plot shifts between Lady Alyce and Bishop de Ledrede and keeps the tension at a fever pitch. The characters are well developed and so believable that one can’t help but side with them both … highly recommended for the story it tells and the way Morgan tells it.”
SAU-READ is a monthly literature and creative nonfiction discussion group which meets September through May and is open to students, faculty, staff and the general public. During the 2006-07 academic year, SAU students and faculty members will take turns serving as discussion leader. Books are available for lending at the reference desk of O’Keefe Library.
